Bribery works at treat no seriously its just sitting there quietly and letting them come up to you and giving them the odd treat so they associate you with nice things - the worst thing you can do it put your hand in from above and chase them around because they will think your a predator and if you grab one they are quite likely to bite - takes a while but they are quite naturally curious so they should come round eventually

Default hi

hey
When I first openned the cage, on the first day i got my degus, they just came running to jump in my hands.
So just sit with your hands next to the cage door when its open (put summing like a sunflower seed in your hands) and they, after a while, should get nosey and come and play

This is an old old thread, but incase anyone is reading it now for tips...I agree with above, they are very very greedy little so and so's on the whole and food works great, build up through the bars and then opening the door and offering the treat until after a week they are not thinking twice about taking food.

I find my little boy doesnt like to come to my hand straight out of the cage, so I normally bend down and he hops on my shoulder.

Also having a large jumper you can put on over your clothes and tuck in at the bottom for them to run around inside next to you seems to work a treat.
