Default Opossums...

Hi, i don't really venture to the exotic mammals as i do not own any but could i ask how people would keep short tailed opposums?
Like what housing do they require and feeding?
Also are they nice animals? And finally are they pricy?

Thanks

I have 3 STO's. They are fabulous animals - the very basics are:

Viv/tank style enclosure - as big as possible with lots of climbing opportunities.
Must be kept individually.
Tame down very nicely (usually).
Prices around the £100- mark seem to be the norm at the moment.

There is a shop near me that has a trio for sale. 120 each, but I'm sure there would be a discount on them if you were to buy all three. I have seen them for as little as 55 too, so there may be some variation in prices. I dont know much about them apart from they are very cute, and would love to have one myself!

Yes but not really pets. TSKA had some virginia opposums on their books, they were about 1500 each i believe. If you want to know about the different species of opposums I'd look on their website. Ben

Out of all species available in my opinion STO's are the easiest to obtain and keep and certainly the least expensive in all respects (initial cost, food, set-up etc.) Also need the least amount of space by far too.
