Default New Chinchilla! Cage Question!

Brought home my 1st chinchilla last night He's gorgeous, adorable, cute, smart, everything I could want really! Have wanted one for a long time, but never had the time to give to one. He's getting a new cage soon too Planning to build him a 5X2X2 (5ft High, Etc...) cage soon! Just wondering if this is enough for 2-3 chinchilla's He'll be getting some friends soon too

Pictures once he's settled in!

Chinchilla cages should ideally have more floor space than height.
Chins can fall from high cages and break bones or even die.
I personally don't think a cage of these dimensions is suitable for any amount of chinchillas.
If you are making your own please rethink and make it wider than it is tall.

I had chins in an aviary type set up with LOADS of shelves and hammocks to break up any falls and they did really well and seemed to really love their home.

My two are in an indoor aviary with shelves, hammocks etc and they appear really happy in it. They also get a lot of free wrecking.........sorry I mean free roaming time

Thanks for replies.
Always thought that chinchilla's needed shelves etc in their enclosures? Have got no problem providing a larger floor area in a cage but it will only be 2 foot high?
Thanks!
