Hi Dave,

I have a pair of Common marmosets (aka cotton0eared marmosets) & they are currently living with their 9 month old twin boys, who are up for sale.

As Shell says, they should not be kept on their own at all. They need lots of space to be happy, ideally an aviary. They need extra heat in the colder months. They aren't great around kids as they have sharp claws & large sharp incisor teeth. They also pee everywhere, to mark their territory, which can smell a little offensive to some people. Their diet consists of baby food, fruit, veg, seeds, nuts, bugs, & some human foods.

Hope this helps,
Colin

all those things are true, but don't forget small children can be anything but gentle with animals, and if the marms are the super friendly type they could get hurt. does anyone else feed them gum? or is it just me (coz they really like it!)
i guess the important thing her is that if you don't want one, it shouldn't be a family animal (i'm not going to use the p word about marms) because they will drive you crazy!!

Gum should be offered as par of their diet along with either masmoset jelly or tamarin cake.
