Hello me and my girlfriend bought a female skunk off of a young lad the other day. Shes beautiful, shes chocolate. But the reason i'm annoyed is that she is absolutely terrified of everything. At his house she was kept in a tiny cage, is obvious she has had no interaction whatsoever. Our male is not scared of anything we can do anything to him and hes ok, within reason lol. We are currently taming her but she is nearly a year old so i dont know if it will be more difficult. Can anybody tell me anything which might help. Thank You

Hello you.
Well done for you for 'rescuing' her. The best advice is to let her become settled in her new surroundings and then let her see your boy been handled and importantly fed by you. Use food to build bridges and give her time. Lets see a few pics as I would love a chocci but am full so must wait. regards Ian |

I found Mprios to be the best bribe going
Just let her settle in her own time & dont try forcing her to be cuddled unless shes happy with it........she willl come round with time as they are too nosey for their own good not to want to investigate you eventually ![]()

We got our chocolate girl when she was 9 months old, roughly, and she was in much the same conditions. We think she was imported and had to do her quarantine with no interaction. It took us the best part of a year to get her to come round, just sitting with her and giving her treats. Now, she's fine when you hold her, but you have to catch her first, she'll never come over and ask for cuddles. Our black and white won't leave you alone, and it's such a massive difference in how they were brought up.
With the morios, I would say not to give them to your skunk by hand, especially if she is nervous of you, as she will snatch them, with no care for what she is grabbing, worms or your fingers!!! Big long treats are for hand-feeding, so you can hold one end and make them stand up so they can just reach the other end!! The other thing we found was that the chocolate one, who was kept in a small cage, has much poorer eyesight than the one who had more room. Don't know whether this is down to breeding, diet, or the fact that she didn't need to be able to see far away because she didn't have any room. Wierd.
