Fur-Eating Meerkats

Hiya, new member here.

I've got 2 male meerkats which are approximately 3 months old. We keep them in an enclosure during the day and then keep them in the house at nighttime to keep them warm and safe.

Last week one of our meerkats, the more submissive one started biting chunks of fur off the other meerkats back and hasn't really stopped since. The dominant male doesn't mind and just stands there putting up with it.

We're not really sure if this is some sort of deficiency in the diet, but surely it would be affecting both of them because they get fed the same food. Also not sure if its just the submissive one trying to groom, but doesn't quite understand the concept?

Any ideas would be extremely helpful.

sounds like he may be over grooming the other meerkat, id get him down the vets to make sure theres no underlining problems, if it was a vitamin deficiency then both meerkats would probably be loosing fur, also make sure they dont have any ectoparasites on their body as this can cause overgrooming and loss of fur in general.
best thing to do is get them both down the vet and check their ok
