Default waxworm problems

hey all, i have just managed to get moths to hatch from pupas in my waxworm colony. I have never got this far before but i have noticed that the weetabix/honey/glycerine substrate is a quite dry. how can i dampen it down with out hurting the moths or ruining my progress? does it need to be moist or is it ok dry?

I am having the same problem, i might wait till all the moths die off and take all my cardboard and paper out add some more honey then replace the cardboard and paper, i had a succesful batch a few weeks ago in moist substrate, but my dogs found it and ate it with all the baby waxworms in

I'm no expert but get a pipette and add a few drops of water to moisten it up. hope that helps but as I said I'm not an expert.

i would add honey I have used a mixture of weetabix and honey, the moths will not eat tho, so you have a while until you have to add honey, good luck

you have probably all seen this webiste - it seems to offer a very simple step by step approach - any use? The use of Glycerin to keep the culture moist seems like a good one.
Im off to a sweet shop to get a jar

Hi I also have got to the moth stage have had 4 moths over the last 3 weeks but all have now died with in a short space of time. They are kept in the sweet jar as said on the website. If anyone can give a bit more advise that would be cool.

They do tend to die fairly quickly, you will need more moths tho to get a good amount, also the eggs are small and they hide them well so there may be eggs in there that you cant see, good luck this time i have added wax paper and cardboard to give them different laying sites
