Not Sure If He Is Eating??

Hi have just recently bought a berber skink and am not entirely sure if he his eating his food. Have been putting in crickets but he doesnt seem to be taking to them, also meal worm which i aint seen him touch tho i did think i caught him having a bit of the cat food i put in. Plus he hardly takes any water other than walking thru his dish lol
I have had him for almost 2 weeks now and he is roughly 9months old. Yesterday he shedded his skin and seems to be doing regular toilets, does this mean that he is eating and healthy??
Any one help me
