Default Dubia roaches eating........

I have been feeding my dubia roaches ground IAMS cat food but it appears that they have started eating the egg crates that are in the storage box with them. Is IAMS any good? Does anyone have any ideas on why they may be eating egg crates?
Thanks

I read a long time ago that some of the more expensive cat and dog foods have something added to repel roaches. Not sure if theres any truth in that but it could be a reason. I use tesco value cat biscuits and they seem to like them.

I use wheat flour mixed with powderd milk and lots of veggies out of the garden. This is cheap and works great for me.
