Default turkinstan roaches and plastic rubs

is it ok to use a heat mat with a plastic rub or not? im just finding it hard to find a cheap tank to breed them in, and dont want to go buying a RUB, for the bottom 2 melt....

any advice on breeding them and set up appriciated

mine are in a 2ft glass tank with a plastic lid that has a small mesh piece in the top with heatmat under half of it - think fishtank.

i was planning on using a fish tank...just not had any luck finding a cheap/old within driveable distance

rub would be fine you dont need to attach the heat mat to the rub stick it to the wall or whatever is at the back of the rub and stand the rub infront that way it will get the heat but not direct onto it and that should be ok

RUB's are fine upto something like 80°C, heat mats never get that hot, not even close. i ran 3 inside a RUB with no problems whatsoever.

however, for Turkistans, DO NOT run the heat mat inside the RUB!! to do that means running cables out of it, and they will climb the cables. run the heatmat underneath it, you cannot have cables inside a Turkistan tub or it guarantees escapes no matter how carefully you try to seal the roof.
