Question for Waxworm breeders...

Hi i am going to have a go at breeding waxworms. Got everything i need based on a few breeding guides ive read on here and elsewhere but just wondered if you need to add a full tub of live waxworms or can you just
leave them in the pots they come in and put the brown/cocooned ones into the breeding jar as and when you find them?
