Question mealworm beetles - what they eat? && substrate?

looked at my mealworm aliens today and noticed 4 beetles, what substrate they need to be kept on? currently not got them on anythink inside the livefood tubs.

also gave them a bit off apple, but what else can be used?

Yo! there's a sticky about these in the feeder section. I have a bunch at the moment, keep em dry, use cornflakes/oats as a substrate, some stale bread and maybe a bit of egg carton, give them some time and you have free mealies
