Right, ok.

Ill try that.

Eventually i wouldnt mind having 3 or 4 colonies, but at the moment i need to split the babies off and move the adults to a bigger tub ive just got.

Problem is - they have just settled (after having them 2 weeks i have had first lot of babies) so i dont want to do it too much.

mmmm I would suggest splitting the colony in half and then have one tub you dont touch and one tub you feed off every week. Then swap around after a few months?

Sometimes its got to be done!

Just done it.

Got more babies than i expected (about 75-100ish) in the smaller tank, and then aload of adults (about 65) in the bigger tank

Cool catch! Now you can leave the adults to get on with breeding and feed out of the smaller one for a little while... In a few months 65 should produce you a respectable harvest!

Thats the plan,

Although so far ive lost 2 adults the first week, 4 the second and now 1 more in the 4th.

Hoping i wont lose many more (or at least im hoping they will produce another 1000 babies before i do)

So how many do you have in your colony now? Adults that is? Did you check if there was any mold in the tub?

Did you sort out the ventilation? Normally one or two die off every so often as they age, though if you keep loosing roaches something within your set-up is not working... mmm

I feed them carrot every other day - removing all the older bits to stop mould.

for ventilation half of the top is a mesh to stop too much moisture.

I have about 25 'adults' (breeding age) left and 40 'mediums' (around 2 months old)

mmmm normally its either heat (too much or not enough) or mold that kills them, you may just have an old adult bunch... whats their staple food? Oats and ground dog food does the trick normally or Koi Pellets I think someone mentioned...

from what you have said before your temps are fine and now your moisture is good so I wouldnt worry too much about those and just leave them for a week or so and see if they pick up

Its been mainly the older ones that have died. The 'mediums' are fine.

i know of at least 3 lots of babies (not bad i guess considering i got them after 3 weeks of them settling) hoping for alot lot more soon though.
