what household things can i use to...finish off...mice to feed to snakes?

a pencil or largish screwdriver.

Put the mouse on its feet onto a flat surface while restraining it by the tail. Press the pencil down across the back of its neck and pull its tail firmly. This snaps its spine and death is pretty well immediate.

Don't hesitate or pull gently as this will hurt or paralyse it. You need to be decisive.

If you're worried about getting it right, you can stun the mouse first by holding it by the tail and swinging it quickly against a hard surface. Then use the pencil before it comes round.

If you don't feel able to do it, or if you have a lot of mice to despatch, you might find a CO2 chamber easier.
