Default First litter.

I woke up to the first litter of mice this morning. No problems until it came to euthanising them. I tried the flick to the head - but it didn't work! They still kept wiggling. I did manage to do it, but it took a few attempts. Is there a better way to do it without causing them and me stress? I brought the vinegar and bicarb in preparation, but went with the flick method due to advice given. In hindsight, it may have been easier to just use CO2. Anyone have instructions?

flicking is one reccomended method for killing pinkies but i agree from past experiences unless you get it 100% right wich is hard as they wiggle it is not very good. i would not reccomend c02 for pinkies as they are resistant to it so that the mother can not suffocate them in the nest. the best way i have used for pinkies is a pillowcase and a table or drop the pinkie onto a solid floor ( not carpet) from as high as you can reach. these two methods need to be done properly otherwise you will just injure the mouse but not kill it. if they have not grown fur i would put them in a small container and put them in the freezer. make sure they dont have fur otherwise they will be in pain. the pinkies die before they freeze so if anybody says it is cruel they feel every cell freeze that is not true for pinkies.

hope this helps,
lee

p.s if you want any more advice about mice please pm me
