Default Gas Chambers

This is more curiosity than a desire to do it:

Does anyone use anything other than carbon dioxide (CO2) in a gas chamber?

Was thinking that carbon monoxide (CO) could be an alternative. You could then just run a tube from the car exhaust into the chamber - could be cheaper than buying bottles of gas.

Would this adversely affect the deceased as feeders?

yup, co2 is the only way, either than or a vacumn bag. you dont need to use any gas cylinders hot ice is the best but if you cant get hold of that then baking soda and vingegar works just as well and its loads cheaper.

Other gases can be used as long as they are inert.

Argon is one. Easily available used in Tig Welding as a shielding gas. It is denser than air so if you filled a tank it will stay in the bottom of the tank as it is heavier than air. It will kill humans in a confined space so could be used for mice and rats.

Helium could be used plus theres a few more.

I have used Argon - which made the rats have fits, and did not seem as anaesthetic or peaceful as CO2.

Carbon monoxide is extremely dangerous to handle and car exhaust doesn't contain as much of it as you might think - and the other exhaust byproducts could poison your snake.

Dry ice and vinegar/bicarb do not allow the correct control over the quantities of CO2 introduced into the chamber - it's very important that you anesthetise the rodents first with a lower dose of CO2, THEN add more gas.
