Default Frozen rodents

There seems to be a big problem in the supply of
frozen rodents with a lot of suppliers at the minute.Anyone
know why?

I breed my own mice and they have definitely slowed down on the breeding front recently. I assume they are partly seasonal and don't breed so frequently in the colder times of the year.

A lot of the rodents that are bought in from the wholesalers come from lithuania, the chap who resides over there and has close to 3 million breeder animals had a big acciedent in the summer with his air conditioning so you can imagine the outcome of that.

The reason obviously for the short supply is he has had to re-grow and stock his breeding groups to be able to produce the animals he sells for food. I believe again from the contact for the above info that stocks in uk shops and wholesalers should be back to normal by fed/march time

I believe (so don't quote me on it) that a lot of our feeder rodents are surplus to lab testing. Obviously they are worth a lot more when sold to the labs alive than to the reptile trade dead. So if the labs want more, they get more and we get less as a result.
Obviously if that is right it can't account for all of them, so I don't know really - I grow 'me own!
