Default Could someone suggest a care sheet for Betta Fish?

Hello...

I'm finally getting my first fish! and i have a 5.5 liter tank and filter... but can someone suggest a care-sheet? i have looked on some on the Internet but most of them have different information.

Also i want to get a African Dwarf Frog with it... can that live happy in the 5.5?

Thanks

Pirate7

im not sure about the frog, but betta fish are really easy to look after just stick to the normal rules of running a tank and you will be fine, they live in muddy puddles in rice paddys in the wild so not really a fish thats hard to care for

Here comes the normal reply - "they live in muddy puddles" !

They only survive in puddles during very dry periods. Note the word "survive". All other times they live in 1000's of acres of water, canals or slow running streams.

Pirate7 - I'll get our care sheet up and send it to you We have over 100 betta at present.

I never said they were as sensitive as Discus, in fact I never mentioned any other fish. The point is, they do not live in muddy puddles. Saying they do indicates, to people that have never kept them, that the water quality doesn't really matter. I can assure you that water quality is very important to keep the long fins in good condition.

Its just there are far too many people that keep Bettas in goldfish bowls and alike, because they heard that they live in little muddy puddles and they'll be alright.

We see the "muddy puddles" reply all the time on the fish forums, and normally they are from people who haven't even kept them!

i know you never said anything about other fish, but i also never said anything about gold fish bowls or that water quality didnt matter, if you read my post you will see that i said to run a tank as normal, as far as i know bettas dont need any special care and used the muddy puddles thing to point out how hardy they are

I would've thought a 5.5L tank would only be a suitable size for shrimp...

Definitely too small for an African Dwarf Frog though...
