Default Sharks

Not sure if I'm posting this in the right section but.....

I'm really interested in starting to keep sharks. Only want a small one that grows no more than about 12 inches (not sure if that's possible)

Anyone have any ideas or tips on keeping sharks?

Thanks

Vikki x

I like the red tail sharks. Are they relatively easy to care for?

I like the Epaulette sharks but they're far too big for me to keep - wouldn't have the room! lol

Silver shark - grows upto 14". need to be kept in groups of about 6, so a 6ft tank will be great for them.

Redtail black shark - grows upto 8". Very territorial but if kept in large enough tank can be kept with almost any fish over 2", except ones that will eat them lol.

Ruby shark - same as red tail black shark, but a bit smaller. Upto 6"

Black shark - grows to 30" so needs a tank of 7.5ft x 4.5ft x 3ft.

Those are the most common freshwater "sharks". Obviously not real sharks, just similar looking to them.

The closest thing you can keep to a shark in a freshwater tank is a stingray. These also need large tanks, usually about 5ftx3ftx2ft.

There's a few marine sharks in the pet trade, but none that I know of that doesnt grow less than 4ft. Marine rays are much harder to keep, too.

I believe the red tailed black shark is more closely related to goldfish than anything else. Cool fish with a cool name though.
