Default Betta Finage

Hello everyone...

Bubbles was swimming around very happily and I notice something about his tail. He seems to have spilt going up the actually fin. Its not fin rot as its not the ends it spilts in the finage and there not strange colour on the fins. He hasnt made a bubbles nest in a while. Water gets changed 25% evert Tuesday or Wednesday... only gets feed a pintch twice a day. same as Peach but Peach has nothing wrong with him a bubbles does. Could he be biting his tail.

Has anyone got a pic of a betta that has bitten his tail. I dont believe he could of caught it on filter as motor is quite far up into filter.

Will add pic when possible. I dont have phone with me

This is some pics just to show you how bad it is. Im really scared something is really wrong

Well I can definately say its not tail biting. They cant reach their dorsal fins for a start.
They look like they have been shredded by something in the tank, whether its the filter, a plastic plant or some other decoration.
You're going to have keep his water really clean otherwise fin rot will easily set in. Probably best to start using Myxazin straight away actually.

Well its not plants are they slik and all real apart from the one slik. Other then that all he has is heater and filter. Seems to like hanging around the heater alot. The hinding place which is a boat isnt sharp and has always been in there, and a gary the snail statue which has been in there from the start too. Other then that it leaves the apple snail and the filter. Will keep water clean and how much dosage should i use on meds. Never had any problems with my fish before so never used meds

Dosage is dependant on the size of the tank. The instructions give you a table to work out the dosage

Oh okay... Well Im going to start putting a ball in there for the boredom... He hasnt made a nest in a couple of weeks now... and i dont know why. Going to local fish shop to get the meds tomorrow. as i got there today they just shut and i got right pe'ed of lol

He seems to be acting normal and flaring when needed. Not heathy breathing neither lazy moments or hypo moments that is not normal. Could a apple snail do this ? Nothing sharp in the tank either. So the only last thing is the filter but I dont see why as the motor is at the top and his fins would have to go pass the spounge to get there...

Hi
I wouldn't have thought the Apple snail was the culprit, too slow. His fins wouldn't have to get to the motor to be damaged though. They could have been just sucked into the intake grill? Some filters can have gaps where they shouldn't and this can cause a more powerful intake.

This is a shot of what tail biting looks like. Notice how its only the caudal fin thats affected.

Well its not like that a tall its more slits and not bits or rotting... Well he doesnt hang around the filter as much as he use to and yes It does have gaps on the side where his tail could of got stuck...
