Tanks

got up for work this morning, only to find a pool of water between 2 of the tanks, so i marked them, cleaned it up and went to work and didnt think more of it

got back and it wasn't my 10L betta tank, it was my 120L west african tank and i dont have a day off to sort it till thursday

i have another one, but no hood to fit it or filter, and i have no money till end of month but i could cut my juwel rekord 70 filter box out and put that into the 4 ft so i can then transfer the media from the rekord 120 straight over once its secured, meaning the only problem with that is the open top

any idea on what to use as a cheap/free tempory hood till i've botched a new seal round the leak?

Sorry to hear that. I've had two tanks leak on me in the last year and thankfully, I had a spare tank as a temporary home. I emptied the leaking tank completely, removed all the gravel and decor and then left the tank empty for a few days to dry out completely. I then resealed the leak with aquarium sealant, let it "cure" for a few days and then put a few inches of water into the tank to check it was watertight and left it for 24 hours. Then refilled the tank, put everything back and et voilá - problem solved.

yea thats my plan, but its putting them some where in the mean time with a secure lid etc

With the goldfish, I put them in a baby bath in the bathtub.

So long as the filter and heater were put in with them, it might do as a temporary solution...

nah there are babies/toddlers here so they'd need the tub empty, might just buy a toy box from asda as they are ok short term

You sure? The volume of water might cause the sides of the toy box to bow outwards...

nah, done it before, plus the shop i used to work at kept their outdoor submerged plants in them

but i couldn't get to asda this morning so all the fish went into my rekord 70 whilst i attempt to re-seal my rekord 120, which is curing atm

if it fails, which i expect it will, then i'll buy a new one, possibly a fluval roma 200

Btw, I see you have Herman tortoises. I saw a pair of these in a petshop the other day - very cute but €275 each!!
