Hi hi all!
Just a quick question, since i work for a resin/aggregate surfacing company i know that there are certain types of gravel/aggregate you must certainly not put into aquarium situations, whether it be due to chemical reactions, dust builds or disintegration (sp?) but thing is, the quarry i work with have only got 1 tech guy who is currently offf for a few months due to sickness or something. Doe anyone have a detailed knowledge of washed/dried aggregate that can/cant be used in tropical situations? I've been looking at autumn Gold or Jerez Yellow or Golden Pea at the moment. Matt |

Yeah have been thinking about trying it with a couple of types i've got. Just wanted to make sure as I've become more aware of stone issues even such as rusting of certain stones since working for this company. We have a guy try and sue us for like 5k becuase many of his pond fish died after introducing certain stone into the pond. Obviously we had already confirmed to him the stone was unacceptable and so he had nowhjere to go. Whilst i didnt spend anywhere near as much, i spent what i could so i just dont want to have trouble with them lol. Currently using like 16-20mm Staff Pink but i dont like it at all. Its all free pretty much because of good working relationships with people hahaha but yeah. Just hoped someone might have opinions.
I'm also trying to build something to put in the sides and back of my tank as its all clear and I'd rather give these guys something to play in and look a little more natural. I'm pretty lame with hands on stuff thus why i am in the office side of construction and not tools!! lol. Any idea's tips PM me or reply here and much love to you all again for changing my mind from freshwater to fresh-tropicals |

I've got a 4ft tank and yeah the sand is cheap. But i am planing on using various contrasts of gravel to make it look pretty lol. Some 1-3mm stone and some 2-5mm stone. And their all free. It just gives me something to play with and hopefully make it look more attractive in the final view.

You know i contemplated that but i am always weary on any chemicals or anything that might harm the fish. I know £140 is pennies compared to some amounts people on here have spent on their beautiful sets and such, but it's a proper hoosh for me at the moment lol! i never intended on spending it but after i spent 80, my tnak was still so damned bare and then i got far too carried away on tuesday and my daughter was pointin which fish she wanted i just made sure they were appropriate for my community lol >.<'
