Hello all.
Can I feed plain undyed maggots to my tropical fish as a treat? I have amongst others a black knife fish and a spiney eel. They eat worms and chopped meat etc. but just thought I would try to give them something different. |

they are ok in very small quantities, very fatty, better energy source than protein as you dont get ammonia from it but over use cause problems like in very very fat people

I believe that it is not recommended that you feed maggots to captive fish due to the way in which they are farmed. There is little regulation on what meat is used and as such they could in effect bring diseases with them, or so they say. Having said that the fish in the pond enjoy them.
