Default Breeding Shubunkin's

Maybe this thread has already been made but I was wondering if there's anyway of getting them to breed? I've kept them since I was a small child and none, no matter how many in the tank, have ever reproduced.
Anyone got any answers?

well first you need to sex them, it's not easy but males have like whiteish spots on the operculum then it's just a case of maintaining water quality.
They're egg scatterers so make sure the subrated either large round stones or even marbles so the eggs can slip between them.

end of the day they're only cyprinids like zebrafish so it isn't that difficult.

best put in a pond to achieve the winter period when they will rarely feed come spring time the males will have white nodules or something or other on there heads and gills whereas the females will become quite plump u can then bring them to an indoor tank and slowly increase temp and feeding....prob with them indoors for winter is that it is harder to keep a tank cool enough compared with keeping one warm.

if you have them in a tank they breed if you add in a heater and raise temperature slightly, feed them high quality live foods, other than the little hooks on the males gill the females get rounder when in breeding.I have bred them as well as fancies, brineshrimp worked well for me.Also plenty of cover for female to lay eggs in and remove them straight away because they get eaten.I would advise getting a large tank and a few shubs, conditioning them and then asessing what you have gender wise from there.

Thanks for all the advise on sexing and conditions

Now that I've sexed my fish It turns out (I think) that I have all girls out of the three, so breeding is out of the question for now.

At least I can refer back to this topic when I get a few males
