Default DIY stand/cabinet

Hi all I am planning a turtle/tropical fish tank that will be bought as plain glass tank sized at 48"x24"x24". The tank is at a price I can afford, however the stand/cabinet literally screws me over at £250. My bedroom where this tank is going has a very distinct style and I also feel that a purchased stand/cabinet will not fit in.

See pictures of room: My bedroom pictures by captainkarl_2008 - Photobucket

I have the room for the tank, will go along the wall where the turtle tank currently is and will remove the support that tank is resting on and also relocate the bookshelf above. I know of some materials that B&Q sell to make the stand/cabinet asthetically fit within the room...Im just after some advice/guidence.

Many thanks

Karl

You could use some thick MDF or something and veneer is in whatever colour you want, silver would be good, make sure you get edging that matches lol Would be cheaper and nicer than some contiboard or something. You can get black MDF too.
