ive got shrimp in my triopical tank, theyre real characthers,

especially if you keep fish with them, ive seen them wave their claws at fish and actually jump on the fishes to scare them away.

As soon as you put them in though, you will probably think they have all died :O mine went missing for a few days while they set up a hide LOL

Shrimps don't tolerate copper, so under no circumstances add it to the tank they will die! So basically what I am teling you to do is check any water treatments or medications you ever have to add before doing so.

They're great little cleaner uppers and keep the algae at bay.

Other then that enjoy, and yes they will breed and mulitiply without any issues.

Oh and if you do add fish, just make sure that they are small, otherwise they will quickly eat through your cherry shrimp population. No botia's (clown loaches, etc), they eat snails so shrimps will also be eaten with little effort.

Very pretty. With that much coverage, you'll prob never see them though...

my tanks full of java fern and mine are always out to play, maybe they feel secure with all the cover, and they only have midget endlers in the tank with them.

make sure the filter is cycled too, shrimpies croak with ammonia etc in the water.

dont use plant food at all, it also contains copper and will kill your shrimps.

cool tank tho

moss balls tend to be better u dnt need tonnes of java moss unless u r intending to breed them coz they will eat the moss balls and use them as a home too, my manager in the fish section of the shop i work in breeds them and they prefer moss balls and less cover for generally living in. gdluck and as above do watch treatments coz they are quickly killed by copper or any other heavy metals in the water so RO water tends to be best as u know everything nasty has been filtered out

if you used pure ro water surely there would be no calcium/hardness in the water for their exoskeletons?

just noticed, what sort of filter is that hiding back left?

if its a powered filter can you cover the inlets with tights or something, or you`ll have shrimp soup!

most peoples use sponge air filters i think
