Maybe. They'd need to know the problem first though.

And, welcome to the dark side of RFUK....

P.S Don't worry about what you read on other threads. It's not serious! Just banter.....

Post away, give as much detail as you can, tank parameters etc...

Problem: I have had my goldfish for around 6 years now. 5 3/4 of bettys time with me has been in a tank with no no filter, but obviously cleaned and tap cleaner etc Never had any problems, unusual behaviour or disease. A few months ago I saw a starter tank in Pets at Home (17lt) which came with a filter and facy decor at a good price so thought I would treat her........However now all she will do is turn herself upside down and lay in the corner of the tank right near the bottem.
First thoughts are could this be a pressure problem with the fliter?
I have had her so long and want her to live another 6 years with me, is this a underlying problem with Betty do you think ? Or is it her new tank set up?

gold fish are hardy little things ain't they, it could just possibly be that she is having a touch of trouble getting used to a filter after so long without one,

she could just be a little stressed due to the change stressed fish will:
swim with its fins held tight to the body.
hang around in corner head down or up,
look nervous, as tho it is trying to escape,
show no interest in food.
appear lighter or darker in colour than usual,

you could possibly get some help for the stress with some de-stress and just hope it passes with any luck she will calm down soon enough and be back to her old self,

Moving fish from one set up to can cause stress. But your post suggest this was done some time ago. Is this the case? How long has she been in the new tank? If it's less than two months what water did you use? How did you treat it etc.

If she's upside down then there is a very real problem. Is she like this permanently? It sounds like swimbladder problems possibly. Can you post a pic of her now?

How do you clean the filter? The most common mistake in fishkeeping is washing the filter under the tap......
