Default Piranha ate plastic plant!

My new black Piranha has decided to eat some of his aquarium plant ! I have removed it straight away incase it does him damage, is there anything I can put in so he has a hiding place? he is a bit skittish now but has decided to hide behind the filter and seems ok,

Are plastic aquarium plants dangerous ie posionous etc?

Thanks

If you've prepared/washed the plants correctly they shouldn't be life threatening. (I'm not an expert on this so I wouldn't know exctly what). Give them some rock hiding places they should be fine.

Piranhas tend to be quite a shy fish anyway, I'm presuming they're in a group?

how about using some big bits of wood, would be quite natural and not as easy to destroy

Are you sure you have an Piranha and not a Pacu as young pacu look very much like a black piranha. The main difference is Piranha are meat eater while Pacu are vegetarians!

If you do have a Pacu, then you should know they grow to a very large size, 2 feet or larger.

My Rhom bites my plastic plants sometimes and i find bits floating about, i dont think he eats it.
Most of the Piranha i have take bites out of plastic and real plants, i wouldnt worry to much unless you see it actually swallow it.
