They Did It!! so proud.. (Angelfish)

After many many many... failed attempts my Angels have finally done it, they have managed to successfully raise a batch of fry, they have tried so hard I'm so proud of them,

after laying eggs and eating them, laying and eating the wrigglers, laying eggs and eating any fry that attempted to free swim cos it wouldn't stay put they now finally have a small cloud of fry swimming round them,

they are still trying to keep them all in the same place but they are all thriving and proud parents are guarding them greatly, I took a batch of this lot out using a syringe and placed them in a sep tank when they were wrigglers in hope that some of them would have a chance

only problem i fear to face now is that i have read that after a few days the fry will start to pick holes in the parents is this true??

also why does silver keep fading her stripes in and out?

Possibly like Discus fry they feed off the mucus of their parents which is enriched with nutrients following a succesful breeding. Nothing to worry about, should it become a issue simply rehouse them and feed on fry food if big enough to accept it.

Congrats on your fry Must admit breeding angels was one thing I hoped to do this year - hasn't happened for various reasons though.

Congratulations on the new fry, angels really are great to see spawn and with practise, they will learn how to care for the fry, when i had a pair they bred all the time (feeding mealworms is a ticket to spawning ) however never quite managed to raise the fry, good luck raising yours and hope you get some of them to reach adulthood

Here are some pictures of the proud parents sorry they are not very good i don't have a camera with macro zoom, something i need to invest in i think,



the babies were just going to bed when we took theses there was a large group of them trying to get under the gravel, the gravels had lots of little eyes,



this is daddy in the picture with them mum was off collecting adventurous fry,





that last one was an OK shot silver had just spat all the straggler's back into the group

why tank you,

i actually don't really like them they are mismatched and nasty they were given to me and i would never be unkind to anything living so they got their own set up with only me to bully when i go in to clean it, but they are happy and healthy, and growing on me slowly

anyone know what type of angel my male is i did a little research and was under the impression he was a koi but the local pet shop has them labeled as panda,

and can anyone tell me why silver keep fading her stripes in and out, one sec they are thick black then the next she has none and the slowly fade back in, at first i thought it was the light but she seems to do it on purpose cos she can be all silver or striped and hold it for days

my dad has had angelfish my whole life but i never really knew much about them...

i have never seen an angel that looks like the one you said is daddy. does that mean all the ones ive seen are female? because they all look like mom

we have two right now.. they are the only fish ive ever really been attached to. i thought one was male and one was female because one has a shorter top fin and the other ones is really long... so i was hoping for babies sometime.

but now im wondering if theyre both not female


daddy is beautiful by the way. im going to be on the hunt for one now. like i said ive never seen any like that in any pet stores or anything...
