ideas on what to get

normally dont post in this section but well my snake is about 2 outgrow his current tank so im thinking of getting som fish in there but i dnt realli have any idea on what to get as all my tanks in the past have been larger tanks for iv had fish that would outgrow this tank.
its only 19.4 litres according to a online calculator
16*8*9 inches
so i was hoping you could give me a few ideas on what i could get
only fish i know i would like is cory catfish
so anything that would be fine with them

smaller barbs, guppys, endlers which are hardier than guppys, platys, whitecloud mountain minnows need cooler temp even freshwater shrimps for something totaly different, theres hundreds to choose from just make sure u dont overcrowd

To be honest your tank is not really big enough for a successfull aquarium. Definately do not add any barbs, these are active shoaling species and need space! Avoid all livebearers also as they breed like mad and your tank will soon be heading for disaster.

You'd be better with shrimps or snails. Or if you want fish buy a 35 litre tank or bigger. You will lose fish in such a tiny tank. Celestial danios and pygmy rasboras are best suited to nano sized tanks. Or a single male Betta splendens (Siamese fighting fish).

the barbs iwas talkin about were things like cherry barbs which if u are lucky will get to 1.5'' and you keep them in pairs most of the ones i kept were about 1'' so would be of a size of neons and like any fish if they start breeding you have to be carefull of overcrowding they dont need to be kept in large groups but do enjoy the company of other smaller fish i would agree u have to be carfull in selection of barbs as some can grow 2 over 6-12'' even tetras like congo tetras can grow over 4'' which are not suitable

No barb is suitable for such a tiny tank. They shouldn't even be kept in pairs as they all like to shoal. My Puntius denesonii need every inch of their 5 foot tank and they're only 4" long but need a lot of room to swim as they're very active. They're not called red line torpedo barbs for nothing!

P.S good luck getting "a pair" of barbs to spawn. Much easier in a shoal!

Puntius denesonii grow 2 6'' plus u cant compare fish like that of course they need a bigger tank i have seen them bigger than even this one of my favarote type of barbs pity they are so exspensive i have spawned the cherry barbs in pairs before i used a 2ft tank very over crowded in java moss and other plants i didnt even intend to breed them as they were in a community tank the fry survived as did the adults which desplayed the same behavior as a group of 6 does i have found even in a group they are not a shoaling fish and scatter themselfs around a tank some types of fish are more active and some are more Territorial they can be the same size fish but some need alot more room than others

Thats a classic mistake of assuming the fish are not shoaling. They don't appear close because you are are only seeing them in a tiny 2' tank. In the wild they would be in larger numbers and together. The small tank size puts a different perspective on things.

In any case the tank is still unsuitable for them.

P.S Puntius denesonii are no longer expensive. CB fish are trickling in these days and this has reduced the cost of the wild caught fish from India.
