I can only go with what everyone tells me. It's not just bio load though it's the size of the fish and how much physical space they need isn't it? I'll never understand stocking rules I have an FX5 and do 50% change a week.

I should think you could add some more fish quite easily.Another bichir / some more SD's could be added without any aggression issues I should think.As I said I do think my pearsei needs a bigger tank, not because the water quality isn't fine, but because she/he is so active and hasn't got much space to move about in...Then again with some fish like malawis they like to be crowded.
People on fish forums seem to echo what they here - ticks me off...Being a long time member on some, and keeping fish longer than reps, I think stocking rules are all bs to be honest.A guideline for when you are first setting up, yes...But many factors chance how many fish you can keep - not just the maintenance etc but how big the fish grows to for instance.

Thanks for the advice. Some more dollars would be nice, 4 doesn't seem much of a shoal really.
