ok, I'll be a bit more constructive...
Its cheaply built; brittle plastic clips everywhere although hagen are generally good at replacing these
Its NOISY!
Its HUGE! it wont fit inside the cabinet of my tank so is strategically planted on the floor.
Only FX5 media can go in it (unless you do what I did and bastardise some oase pond filter media...)
I'd go for an Ehiem for that size tank if I could.
But saying that, It does the job. Ish. My tank is approximately 550-600 litres and houses an arowana and a large gibiceps. I wouldn't use one of these to filtrate a tank that is 1500 litres like it says it can.
The self priming fascility is goodas is the backwash and drain pipe. In all honesty I can think of several pond filters that can do all of the above and do a better job for less money.

Thats just my opinion though.

Haha, they're good, they're good. I am officially a non-fishkeeper now, having now not even got my pond (parents moved house). Woe is me

Hows life in Mike-world?

It's like any filter. The max tank size is a guide. I'd have no problem using it on a 1500 litre heavily planted tetra tank, but wouldn't go much higher than 400 litres on a heavily stocked tank.

Life's good. Cut back a lot on some stuff, not breeding much either now. Gone and got myself a pond though lol. Nothing much 10x6x3 foot, just native fish in it.

129 quid is a proper bargain. Even with the cons of an FX5 it's worth that cost. The smaller decent eheim's retail for that let alone the size one you'd need

If it's noisy you have a problem. When I first set mine up a year ago it was loud, turned out that where I'd sat it wasn't level. Levelled it out with some wood wedges and a spirit level and now you wouldn't know it was running.

Never had a problem with it in the year I've had it. Excellent filter.
