Default Painting back of tank

Was thinking of painting it white......not sure of that is a good idea though. I want a colour that will show the fish off more, and having looked at the bi-orb life tank's, white does that the best.

Failing that, I might go for black.

I don't paint my tanks, I've used black bin liners taped on the outside to good effect. Put some polystyrene onto the plastic for insulation as well (my house is very draughty).

Once you have plants and decor in the tank you can't tell what the background is made of.

Paint will peel off and make a mess.
Black adhesive vinyl is the best thing to use.
It can be peeled off when you fancy a change.

There is also ready made fish tank backing in various colours and designs.

Mine are either 'Back to Nature' rock backgrounds or black backing for the breeding tanks.

Do not go for white as it will attract algae and look a mess.

I quite often use blue or black craft paper (any Smith's will have it) taped to the back of my tanks. Shows the colour really well.

To enhance the colour of your stocked fish I would suggest darker colours as the white may cause them to lighten in an attempt to blend in with their surroundings. It will also be worth considering the lamps you use.

P.S. make sure you apply the paint to the outside of the aquaria and before choosing a paint if you have a flat backed aquarium try playing with different colour papers to give you an idea of the final effect.

Just paint it black or blue, make sure glass is clean and dry before painting.
I use tile paint, but you can use most paints.
Background sheet ect are ok but if any water goes down the back, they look bad.
Paint all the way, id never go back to anything else.
