Default oscars eating my fish!

i was just wondering if anyone else has experianced this but ive just caught 1 of my big oscars eat 1 of my red fin sharks. they have all lived together fine for the last year with no problems, and by me saying eat it i do mean litterally eat it alive (and whole) all of my fish were perfectly healthy, is there anything i can do to stop this happening again?

plz help

Anything an oscar can over power and eat it will!
they have huge appetites and shouldnt be in a community tank with smaller fish

As above. You only want to keep other fish with it that are far larger than it's mouth will open... and that's pretty wide! Ideally 4"+

All i kept in my 6 x 2 oscar tank was a huge plec and that was it , could of got some different species of large cichlids to put in there with them but i didnt...as i just wanted to keep a pair of oscars and plec in there. they loved it
but adding smaller fish is basically a death sentence for them

Oscars are absolutely infamous for doing this, and in this age of free and vast information that we live in, you should have known that, eventually, this was definately gonna happen

Classic oscars lol, I was growing mine on in a tank with a pair of stingrays and at 5 inches it was happy to try and attack a 24" ray! Don't assume that because it can't be eaten it will be safe. They are notorius for a sudden change in temperament too.
