I have only ever seen one breeding pair of goldfish. They were handed into the shop I used to work in. They were about the 8 inch mark. There was no sexual dimorphism between them. The only way to tell was coz the male was chasing the female round the tank. She was releasing her eggs and the male was fetilising them. They were every where, stuck to the undersides of the stress bars and everything. Not sure how to go about breeding them other than buying a load and growing them on and letting them pair off.

are they in a tank or pond?

they get frisky in the spring once the weather's warmed up (in a pond that is) so i imagine you'd need to simulate that indoors by lowering the temp. for a while then raising it again

not sure about size, seen relatively small goldfish chasing each other around but they might not have actually been laying any eggs

as for sexing you can only really do it when they're ready to breed: males develop breeding tubercles (white spots) on the gill covers and on the edge of the pectoral fins and the females will be plump with eggs

unless someone else replies with more info, next thing would be to have a Google

you'll need lots of plants, for a tank, or lots of spawning brushes for a pond. If you can't find much info, there's plenty on breeding koi, and they're extremly similar in how they do it.

Males often get Breeding tubericles when mature and the females will plump up with eggs.
Prior to that, the males vent is inwards and quite visable and the females points outwards and can be a little harder to see.
If you want them, to breed make sure that you have a well planted area and your water quality is good. Feed them a good amount of live foods and make sure you are able to seperate the fertilized eggs and fry from the parents as they will eat them.
