Default new project

for christmas i got a gift card for sea pets, i had a look around the store and seen as they had nothing for reptiles or inverts i decided to get some thing for my 4ft fish tank, I wasnt impressed with what they had in stock alot seeming very lifeless. so have decided to give breeding my siamese fighters ago.
there in there breeding tank and ive had to make a lid for it as they kept jumping out, they have been in there maybe 6 hours and and the male has already started to make a very small bubble nest, he is flairing nicely and is very much interested it seems, she is with her head down a lot of the time but because she is white with blue fins i cant see her vertical stripes.

how long should i leave them together with out any contact with one another???

I wasn't saying sea pets is just that my local store doesn't hold a good interesting selection in my opponion. Any how my main pourpose of this post was not to discuss sea pets but more the breeding of Siamese fighters

Hi steven, I'm assuming as you live in ipswich you went to the ipswich store, which I agree has a poor selection of both fish and reptiles. Not to blow my own trumpet but I'm fish and reptile manager of the colchester store and like to think we have a pretty good selection.

I note in your sig you seem to like your spiders, at colchester we currently have over 30 spiders in stock.

here's a couple snaps I had on my phone of our spiders...

anything fancy? well we have emerald skeletons in stock, a mexican blood leg, mexican blondes, OBT's, a few nice pink toe Sp's, couple of crested geckos left, dumeril boas, house snakes including albino, tomato frog, fantasy horned frog, mantis.

Although we're a bit low at the minute, got a few vivs to fill after the x-mas hol sales.

Yeah some shops seem like that, the fish all look drab and lifeless for some reason while in others they seem more colourful and full of life, I think it helps when they have plants in the tank and good water quality.

i dont rate the fish from pets at home highly as i brought 2 fan tails to add in with my sons red cap oranda and they died a month later within days of each other and we know it wasnt the tank as the red cap is still going and growing well. i wish luck with your fighters steven and let me know if you have success as im hoping to set up a tank for a single male fighter as i think they are beautiful fish and have always wanted one
