Default Ghost Shrimp

I keep turtles, and one of their favourite treats is ofcourse ghost shrimp. My main problem is the only place ive found that I can get them is a 40 mile round trip, I also find them quite interesting too so would like to keep a stock of them, and have a few questions, hopefully some of you guys can point me in the right direction. Ive read a little on the internet, but its not been particulary helpful.
1) Are they easy to breed, do I just leave them to it and hope for the best? or is there a way to it?, can they be sexed?

2) Ive never kept them past a few hours before as i have 7 hungry
turtles, what kind of set up do I need to keep these little guys
I have a 30l rena hexagonal fish tank which has a small filter, a light in the hood, a heater, is this going to be suitable? or do I need to get a new one? what kind of set up do they need, temperature, do they need lights, substrate? what kind of water? Ive read I should provide Java moss and they eat tropical fish food, is this correct?

3) Can I keep aquatic snails with them? are there any to avoid if I can?

Sorry I am rather clueless in this, so would really appriciate some help.
Thanx
Matt

edit: I have read the shrimp sticky, any extra advice woudl be great.

the ghost shrimp you buy as feeders can be any number of species, but most of them are brackish and wont survive in freshwater for very long.

if you're interested in keeping shrimp, I'd go with a definite species, like cherry shrimp.
