![]() To the OP, I haven't got a marine tank but if you really want a 'nano' then I think something around 70-90 litres would be ideal. You have to bear in mind that keeping water parameters stable can be very difficult in a small amount of water and there is little room for error. A six gallon tank is nothing when thinking about marines and I highly doubt there would be anything you could put in it other than maybe a few snails ![]() Can't comment at all on cost of equipment, I suppose it depends whether you'd like to go with a 'ready made' tank (which includes all the necessary equipment) or if you'd prefer to select and buy all the bits separately. Just don't forget to factor in the costs of test kits, a refractometer, water treatments/salts etc, an RO unit (or the cost of buying water from a shop) and then fish and corals (if you're having them). Hope that helps a little, sure the marine experts will be along shortly to help properly though |

Put it this way. In a 28 uk gallon tank you could only have a total of 5-6" inches of fish, so that's about 2 fish. In a 6 gallon I guess it would have to be fishless.
What I'm doing with my 28 uk gallon boyu TL-550 is have 2 fish, lots of inverts and lots of corals. Even a small tank is expensive to setup you're looking at hundreds. Best bet is to join a marine specific forum and get some options. On a side note, despite people putting clowns in nanos the common perc clown grows 4-5" and it's recommended you have a minimum tank size of 30 gallons. I've been advised to not have any. The shop I work in turned a fluval edge into a nano tank, it's got 4 corals, couple pieces of rock and a white ray shrimp goby and pistol shrimp, it's a lovely little tank and very stable, remember, using RO water, as long as you get salt content right (roughly 35 gramms a litre) you can do quite large water changes regularly, which we have found to be pretty much essential =]

making a 6 gallon marine tank is in no way impossible, but it wont be easy so i would leave a tank that small untill you have alot more experiance, just for notes a 6 gallon isnt a nano but a "pico" tank
