Default Lake Malawi Mbuna

Just wondering if anyone else keeps Mbuna? or has a Lake Malawi Biotype tank?

I have to agree with you there, totaly awesome fish. i have a trio of each of the following at the moment....

F1 Cynotilapia Afra 'Jalo reef'
TB Labidochromis caeruleus
TB Pseudotropheus 'acei'
F1 Metriaclima 'membe deep'
F1 Pseudotropheaus Elongatus Usisya 'mara rocks'
F1 Metriaclima Aurora 'cobwe'
WC Synodontis njassae
WC Tropheops Red Cheek 'Tsano Rock'

there are so many... crowd them... i always used lacerock here they call it...

lots of hiding places as you know...

they are fun to watch and such mooches!!!

i liked how they follow you around... begging..

feed them right and do those water changes and that's it!

so easy... very political fish...


so many species and colors too...

I have about 100kg of medium size boulders in mine (each one is about a third of the size of a football) and where a nightmare to get into the tank, but well worth the effort.

I do a 1/3 water change every two weeks, seems to be the easiest way to keep the water quality at a good standard and hardness.
