Well if you have the space, storeing the water overnight often gets rid of Chlorine and Clormine, other than that buying larger containers of treatments work cheaper in the long run as it works out less per amount used.

leaving the water overnight, even with an airstone in it will not remove Chloramines, they can be stable in water for several days, hence why the water athorities use it, api stress coat is only one of several products that do the same thing, have a shop around, i think the King british product might work out cheaper.
All good de chlorinators also remove some heavy metals as well, which you cant remove by leaving the water to stand

If you buy the bigger size of water conditioners it works out cheaper. I used to buy Aqua Plus which came in a tub about a liter in size which was only £20. If you trawl the net you can maybe find an even cheaper way.

Chlorgo for ponds, 1ltr can be picked on fleabay cheaply, you will need a syringe or similar to measure it out though as it is concentrated stuff.
I used this in my fish house for years untill I got myself a carbon filter

I've never added anything, I normally just set up a spare tank or container with a heater and pump to get it to temp the day before then use it, never had any problems doing this, I dont like the idea of adding chemicals to it.

I use cold water straight out of the tap, no chemicals ever in 20+ years, never had a problem.

but like most king british products it's pretty crap.

Best ones are API and Tetra aquasafe. The Seachem one is very good aswell and is usually expensive. Sera do one as well which is good and usually quite cheap.
