Default oscar behavior help

hi there peeps ive got a 4nich red map oscar. ive had 2 previous oscars b4 and they wer very interactive n would come to the front of the tank wen i wz there. but this one i have now is very active when im not around the tank but as soon as i go near it it hides! do u think it needs a friend in there or is this the case with some oscars? i was under the impression they where very active and not shy?

When you first get oscars they can be a bit skittish like any animal but they soon get used to you, at that size it isn't very old so just perservere and it should get better.
