Default Black growth on Live Rock?

Aye up Guys

I have a black growth growing on my Live Rock? It seems to be spreading and has even moved to the Live sand where the rock touches the sand. What is it and is it destroying everything else on the Live rock?

Thanks

It sounds like Cynobacteria..........like a dark red / black slimey algae.

Its indicative of a new tank (where high nutrient levels are in the fresh coral sand) or an old tank where organics have built up in low flow areas.

Do you have any pics?????

Ok will try and get some pics up later, do I leave it? or wash it off? will it return? It does look like a slimey black spreading blob not unlike a 1960 s Hammer Movie
