Default whats wrong

My betta had been always a really active one. he is a pet and not breeding and wont be, he means to much to me. It broke my heart when he came down with pop eye, due to moving tanks and stress. We treated him with melafix because i have never had a problem in using it with bettas, angelfish etc before. His eye is back to normal, but doesnt seem himself. all he does is stay at the bottom of the tank, he darts around if i tap the glass or move the items in his tank. why is this

I know they get depressed and i have moved and changed the things within his tank.
Doesnt seem to be showing that he is ill - that i can see
He doesnt really eat, but nothing wrong with his mouth, change the food as well
He doesnt even build bubble nests anymore

Could this be old age ?

We had one that was prone to getting pop eye for some strange reason?
Since reading a good research piece into Melafix and Anabantoids we have stopped using it. We no longer see as many problems as we used too. Its been proven to be an irritant to the labyrinth organ, and can cause permanent damage I have found the best "all round" meds to be Myxazin, especially for pop eye.

Pop eye can actually be a secondary infection, which has manifested itself due to another problem. Normally an internal bacterial infection, so its important to use a Anti bacterial meds to treat the main problem. This could be whats happening to yours?

IME Bettas spend a lot of time "resting" - in fact, mine likes to play dead.

I dont know, he eye has gone back to normal so i doubt its anything medical.

I know some bettas are more lazy then others, but this is honestly not like him atall. when ever i got near the tank he lays there like a stone breathing normal but not bothering to move. where as before he would swim to front of tank and then chase my finger around lol. He was so full of character and now he isnt

but its actually like his old one (same size and everything) just glass instead of plastic, as it was easier to clean. he was alright for about 4 days after eye got better, and since those days he "sulked",

You might be right though, with the tank
