Default fishes.......... obviously.

Reet.
I had a wall mounted tank which was too small to keep anything in apart from little fish but i had some in which were probably too big.
In July i set up a 48*18*15 tank, added some water with an under ground filter and left it to cycle. Late last week i topped it up with the water from the wall mounted tank and put the fish in.
I'm crap with fish names and forgot what they're called apart from the plec. I'll try and get some pictures of the ones that are in but there's a plec about 4 inches long, a white thing with red fins and 3 little jobbies that like to stick to the glass like a plec (but they're not a plec).
These have been in about 5 days and seem to be doing ok.

how long before i can add some more to it without having them die off?

Those little things i know what they are, they are they are often called butterfly plecs and they do better in a cold water set up but they should be okay with tropical fish. I've kept them in the past.

Also are the white jobbies with red fins possible cloud minnows? What were you thinking of adding because if its going to be a big fish then you need to be careful not to antagonise the bio system running in the water too much. However a shoal of small fishes should be okay.

my descriptions must be good then

not a clue of the names but i might bob down to the shop tomorrow and have a look (if they've more in). The ones you think are butterfly plecs were in the tropical section of the shop.

I don't want to go for anything too big. I'd rather have a decent number of different community fish than a tank with 2 big fish, a few plastic trees and a plant pot.
I was thinking of possibly picking 2 or 3 dwarf gourami tomorrow or something of a similar size if it's not too soon to add more.

just tried to take a few pics. The white one is hiding behind a rock. The plec is black and stuck to the back wall on the black back ground so just pretend this is a picture of him

and the little sucky things have gone to the pub, can't see them anywhere.

To top it all off the light is purpley and i feel sea sick after looking at the tank close up

I have cloud minnows they are really lovely little guys, one of mine has not long developed little blue flecks on his fins that look great when they catch the light.

The little butterfly plecs look like rays don't they

Dwarf gouramis are sweet should mix well in your equation. I say should because we had a fully grown normal gourami that i called killed because he had a thing about guppies!!
