Default using a filter as a feature pump...

Forgive me for being absolutely and utterly dense, but it's been a little while since I've used a filter as have a token one fish (betta) as having a tank is impractical while I'm moving about so much.

However - basically as in title - it's possible to use some types of filter as like a mini waterfall pump for a feature that feeds into the tank, yeah? No? Have I made this up?

Help!!!

Yes, take off the powerhead, and then attach piping over the outlet pipe- you might want to silicone it if it's loose. Just remember to keep the bottom of the powerhead covered, or you'll end up with shredded fish.

Is it for the betta tank?

No, not at all - basically about to set up a semi-acquatic vivarium for some striped keelbacks or viperines, and would like a waterfall feature for the water section of the tank, but would like to keep some guppies or the like in it.

The filter head should work no problem, but if space isn't an issue within the water then keep the filter as is and just attach the pipe to the outlet, meaning you'll have filtered water as well.

Brilliant, I knew I could do this ( filter AND use as a pump) but the poor kid in the fishtank thought I was bonkers when I asked if I could.

Space isn't going to be an issue - I think I'm going to use a wide bit of down piping to house the filter & piping, and a heater, so they aren't visible from the viewing pane of the viv/tank & so I can silicone on rock & slate to the pipe & remove for cleaning rather than directly to the back of the tank.

Thanks so much!
