Default Territory Problems?

I have a 4ft fish tank and today bought a Blue Acara Cichlid after receiving advice from the shop owner that he would be fine with my Featherfin catfish and plec. both approx same size (4 inches).

Everything was fine at first but just been sat here watching thm and notices that now the cichlid wont leave the catfish alone and keeps chasing him pretty much everytime he spots him.

Help please!

keep an eye on them as it might just be a one off thing as some of my cichlids have been like that before but if it carrys on and it is nipping or stressing the featherfin out then you might have to seperate them. my feather fin is fine with my cichlids but some cichlids can be more aggressive and territorial than others.

Are you sure its a Blue Acara and not a jack Dempsey or Green terror? I have seen both them fish mis sold as blue acara and both of them are much more aggressive and territorial.
Best thing to do would be make more places in the tank for the cat fish to hide in.

Hi,

I came down this morning to find my featherfin with missing scales and caught the other fish nippings its fins. I took the Acara back to the shop but after being out most of the day I came home to find my featherfin dead, gutted,
