As above you haven't got that one quite right. What you do in the privacy of your home is basically your own buisness. Its only if you are silly enough to have an audience watching (and someone objects!) or if you record it and upload it to u-tube or something that you may find you have problems. There are several major UK snake breeders that feed live as a general rule, they just don't really advertise the fact other than to potential customers.

Ok, yes as long as it's behind closed doors you generally can't be caught. but that doesn't make it right or above board. similar to taking drugs, if the police aren't there sitting next to you in your house what can they do.
The way i see it, is that i have been told by many (university professors, zoo employees etc.) that it is illegal. and that only under extreme circumstances is it accepted. now generally i am on the side of its wrong, if it was right, then zoos would feed live vertebrates to captive predators. but they don't because it is illegal under the animal welfare act and the five freedoms legislation. live prey are not free from injury, fear, pain or suffering, therefore it is breaking the law. however with regards to the rehabilitation of predators i believe this law hinders their progess, but thats my own vex. also in the last month the five freedom do now legally apply to domestic owned animals not the public places like zoos. and you can be prosecuted. now i'm pretty sure that all this is pretty much correct, but just to appease you i have emailed DEFRA (as it isnt the RSPCA, they are just the messengers) requesting them to comfirm this information. think what you will, and carry on as you will, but one day it will catch up with you one way or another.

obv everyone who is bleating about live feeding
a-doesnt know their facts ( i dont like it anymore than you guys so dont flame me ) b- doesnt think that pet owners do buy these mice c- that these could be used as breeders for humanly killed feeders,or be killed pre feed by the buyer...
