and do the people know who've reported them?

Mods see the report i would guess and no i dont think the person knows you have reported them till the thread is locked or the post is removed or they are banned

Only mods see reported posts Jade... nobody else ever knows who's reported them.

Don't expect anything to be done if you complain, I sent a report about a post where someone made offensive comments about me personally, its still there!

Just looked in to this, but the post you reported doesnt seem to be offensive or personal, we cant edit everything on the forums just because people disagree on things; these are discussion forums. The comment made against you was that you didnt understand the difference between two different breeds of dog as you called it a mongrel. Thats all we had to go on and based on that, I believe it was felt by the mod who looked at the report that no action needed to be taken at that point.
