Browsing old threads?
I've noticed that on most of the forums the pages you can browse only go back a couple of months at the most.
Is there a way of browsing through older threads without having to search for something specific?

What are you looking for?
Go to Advanced Search, and pick your options. You can search for threads older/newer than yesterday/week ago/month ago/year ago, etc etc. Or by specific people, or having a specific number of posts in, or a certain person posting, or a key word, or specific sections, or all of them. However, clicking on a section, like "Snakes", and then going to the last page, doesn't bring the oldest threads up, although they are still present. Only the first 500 (I believe?).

Woah! I've just discovered if you go to settings on your User CP section you can chose how many threads are displayed in each section, set it to "all threads" and you can see them all!
On snake section there is 1000 odd pages of threads! Woooo! No more boredom for a while!
