Default tree's/braches

say you had a tree in your garden say for instance a sikamore is it ok to chop a couple of braches off, skin them then disinfect them with reptile cleaner and put them in boiling water just dont wanna harm my snake or lizards ect is there any dangers to them ?

Yeah should be fine I do it all the time, you can also put the wood in the oven and bake it and put it in the freezer over nite....providing it fits in either. Preparation seems to be personal choice tho.

thanks mate just want to use some because the limited stock they sell in pet shops are never the right size/shape ect and there mega exspencive !

My house backs on to some woods, so im always in and out find different peices (loads cheaper than buying it) only problem is the neighbours think im crazy

Tell me about it, try hiding a hack saw without looking suspicious.

I coat all the suff I find after its been treated in Blagdons pond seal. If its safe for fish then it should safe for reptiles. Its polyurethane and it has no odour after its dryed for a few days. Paint it in very thin layers as it can be abit shiny. Ive looked everywhere for a safe matt alternative.
